About me

Hola! My name is Sherly  and I’m from Colombia, South America! This blog was created to share about God’s calling for my life to share the Gospel to all nations, equip believers with the Word and show how God has been advancing his kingdom on earth!
“It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written: “Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand”. Romans 15:20-21
I grew up as a Roman Catholic in Colombia. When I was still in High School, I got the chance to meet with my cousin that I didn’t even know in 2011. He preached the Gospel for the first time to my family and I. After that we kept talking and at the end I asked him if he could help me to go to the U.S.A because I knew that I could have opportunities to be successful. In May of 2012, a time of depression came into my life, when I did not want to live anymore even though I was having a good relationship with my family. I was hopeless, tired and lost. There were many nights I used to cry out to God “Take me because I can’t stand this anymore”. One day I was walking on the street and I saw a man selling rat poison and bought it and waited for the day to take it. One night I decided to take the poison, lied down on my bed, expecting to die… but at the end nothing happened. To tell you the truth I was so mad! I was like “Why am I still here? I do not get it!
In September 11th of 2012, I traveled to the United States to live with a Christian Family. Even though I heard what Jesus did for humanity, I really didn’t care because I believed in many gods. I believe in Buddha, Shintoism, I thought God was half woman, half man, I mean you name it! I was pretty polytheistic. While I was pursuing my dream to become an actress, I started attending to this foursquare church named Hope Chapel where I became interested about Christianity because of the many testimonies that I heard and even the healings that I witnessed in the audience.  I was really amazed about all these things that were happening around me. So I decided to read the Bible and began to ask many questions to my cousins and the leaders of the church like, What is the meaning of life? Why there is so much suffering in this world? Why do we have so many languages? What is the truth? and once I began to read the Old and New Testament most of the questions I had, were answered. I was also amazed of how many of the prophecies that were in the Bible were fulfilled and how some of them are slowly coming to fulfillment.
One day when I was reading the Bible, I understood why I did not die. Because God loved me and had amazing plans for me! And you can see his mighty hand in my life for I’m still living without any reaction of the rat poison that perhaps would have ruined my body. When I think about it, I get speechless and happy. I wanna let people know that there is hope in this life and His name is Jesus the Messiah! who is waiting for you! Later, I decided to surrender my life to Jesus and let him direct my path. Since then, He transformed my life.
Now, how did I end up in Japan? well I was thinking about becoming a missionary but I was like, Oh Japanese people are rich, there is no reason to go there. That is how I used to think but someday I met with a Japanese scientist, he was really clever but I asked him, so in what do you believe? He explained it in this way, that most of the Japanese people believe that there are spirits in the rock, tree, etc… I believe that the Lord spoke to me through that person and said: They are poor spiritually, they don’t know anything about Jesus!
“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest, ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Luke 10:2
Knowing that only 1% in Japan are Christians, the desire to go to preach the gospel in Japan was getting stronger than ever! I was able to sympathize with the Japanese people because there was a high suicide rate and wanted to share the same hope I was given. So I began to search and I found J-House! I applied and God made the way for me to go to Japan. After that I’ve served with Teen Missions International in the US for a while, Ecuador and Nepal and later on in Cambodia, Indonesia and Honduras. I also recreated the stories of many Christians from different nations for the purpose of showing the world what God is doing in those countries, pray for the Christians that are currently serving there and to challenge people to go and serve.  Currently, I’m studying  Biblical Languages at Moody Bible Institute.  I hope that with this testimony you will be encouraged and will start to wonder about What God has for your life.

  3. Hi, I just want to say that I am very interested and excited to know more about your missionary to spread God’s love as Jesus followers in Japan.

By the way, is St Francis Xavier in anyway connected with your mission?

    God Bless You

    From Ben 🙂

      1. Definitely, become a prayer warrior. Pray for Japan, that their eyes will be opened and recognize their need for God. Pray also for more helpers that will be willing to go there and minister to the Japanese people and pray for wisdom. If you are interested to minister there, please check out the links that I put on “Come to Japan”.

Well i am very passionated person in the ministry of Gospel according to Word of Jesus Matthew chapter 28 verse 19&20.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This is mission of Jesus for all nations
Then this mission took His disciple and now this is our responsibility to spred Word of God.
Few months back I saw trail of New movie who’s name is Silence. I liked relgious movie very much especially those in which show how Christianity grow up and what was role of missionary.

I tried to download for watching this movie from many websites but unfortunately I couldn’t.
Couple of days back I request to my friend I want to see this full movie. So he helped me to download.
Today I saw this movie completely and my soul is very irritating, irritable and uncomfortable and I am very possessive how they know Word of God, how they become save. Jesus Christ crucified on Cross for all mankind then how we left them.
Few minutes ago i search on Google and YouTube is church and Christianity prsent and grow in Japan.
Then I found one of documentary in which I saw people of Japan not know about Jesus and Holy Bible. 1 percent people know about Jesus and accept Jesus Christ as saviour.

You people are doing job excellent and with purity of heart.

  6. Sherly…I enjoyed your documentary. I’m really curious to know how you learned Japanese so well. You were only in Japan one year, right? That’s amazing.

    1. Hi Gregory, I spent almost two years in Japan and by God’s grace I was able to learn it at least for normal conversations and God has used me even outside Japan to share the gospel with the Japanese people that I get to meet along the way. My japanese friends helped me a lot and also I just tried to learn with books like “mina no nihongo” and watch videos on youtube. I hope this helps. Thank you for your comment!

  7. Sherylさん、こんにちは👋😃
    知り合いの宣教師に紹介されてこのサイトにたどり着きました。今どちらですかね?
Just wondering how much you can actually read and write things in Japanese. Anyway, I hope to meet you up in person somewhere sometime. I’m located in Okayama of Japan, my physical hometown, and Jerusalem, my ever-lasting hometown in Spirit. If you are in USA🇺🇸 now, maybe I can visit your place on my short-term mission trip with a lady possibly across North America in this late December. Alternatively, you can just come to my hometown anytime as J十C leads you:-) Would it be OK? May J十C Bless you

    1. Hi Taishiro,
Sorry for my late reply. Life has been pretty busy these past months. I’m curious which missionary introduced you to my website?
I was able to read your Japanese introduction. I can read and write some Japanese but not super deep stuff. My Japanese friends are the ones who translate my updates.
If you and the lady you mentioned come to the US, send me another message here.

      blessings,
      Sherly

      1. Hello and sorry for my late reply too. I was refered to you by Kevin Cochane, a missionary from SEND International and now transitioning to Commission to Every Nation.
