A friend of mine, who is working as a missionary in J-house shared with our team that she wants to create a website to evangelize Japanese people, so that they will be able to know more about Christianity, ask questions about life and find some answers. With this is mind, we went last Tuesday to campus and we used as an “ice breaker” this website (http://lifenavi.wordpress.com). We wanted to know what kind of questions do the Japanese people have about life. With a surprise, we did not get so many questions. Apparently, they have never think about that before or they are not interesting about it or they just want to avoid the subject. Now we are just trying to encourage these students to think about the meaning of their lives, the existence of God and many other subjects. So that they will be able to see the truth from the Bible and believe in the Son of God.
when I got back home, I knock the door of my friend, just to ask how was she feeling because she said she was depressed and hopeless about her future. I prayed for her a week before but I just start thinking about her, and her depression, so I decided to speak with her. I shared my experience of the depression that I used to have and I explained her that I believe, when I was depressed, Satan was just murmuring into my ear, so that I would be deceived by him, with these words, “oh you do not have a future, you are a burden for your family, nothing is working out for you, why don’t just kill yourself and finish this right away?”! What a LIE!
She said that most of the Japanese people think that having depression is “normal”. I was almost shocked with it! how come they can take depression as normal?! In Colombia, feeling sad sometimes is normal, for being sad, it is just a reaction of a particular circumstance. One example that I can use is the poor people of my country, for there are many who don’t have many resources. However even in those circumstances , they still have joy in their lives. But when we used the word “depression”, that’s so serious and dangerous for us. It is not normal at all! Depression is a sickness, a state of unhappiness, where the person is unable to confront his daily life. I said that what I was dealing with and what she was dealing with, it was a spirit of depression, which makes you feel down till you start thinking many unsuitable thoughts. And what she needed to do, it was to used the authority that Jesus has given to us to rebuke the spirit and command it to go!!! The enemy is so ready to attack God’s children
” Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” 1 Peter 5:8
But Praise the Lord, for he has giving us his Word to fight against that. We believed that God set that time for us, so that I would teach her about it but not only for that, also that she will be able to explain this and warn the members of the church. Because we can not do this only be ourselves, we need the Holy Spirit and the saints to fight with this spiritual warfare. God is amazing because we were saying, oh we need to warn the people about this and by the next day in the service, our Pastor started to speak about the spiritual battle that we are having. That was awesome!
“In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere”. Ephesians 6:16-18
